The Get Right Band is a psychedelic indie rock power trio committed to relentlessly following their muses to honest self-expression, to whatever excites them and pushes them into unexplored territory, to capturing some version of truth. American Songwriter writes that the Asheville, NC based group, “filters 60’s/70’s psychedelia and 90’s alternative rock through a modern lens–as if Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Nirvana co-wrote an album produced by Danger Mouse and Dan Auerbach.”
Mellow Swells is a band from the triangle area that soar blasts funk, rock, and intense improvisation to its listeners.Their influences range from traditional music all the way to modern funk/pop. Expect to get blasted by some low end bass, sweaty by some deep grooves, and slapped by soulful vocals and soaring riffs.
The Hourglass Kids began as a group of high school friends jamming in the various basements of Hickory, NC. Over time, they have evolved into a seven-piece reggae-jam-rock collective known for their mind-melting live performances. Pulling from the musical creativity of all seven members and the unique lyricism of four songwriters and vocalists, The Kids traverse a breadth of stylistic and emotional terrain that includes roots reggae, psychedelic rock, neo-soul, hip-hop, and jazz-rock.

Led by Captain Pete on keys and vocals, First Mate Cameron Love on guitar and vocals, and Activities Director Leona Love sharing percussion and lead vocal duties, the bow of the ship is stacked with harmonies and familiar melodies. With Professor Newland Archer on bass and Helmsman Phineas Wigglesworth IX on drums, the stern of the boat is guaranteed to be pumping out solid two-steppin’ grooves!

The Footcandle Film Festival will host a weekend outdoor concert and film screening at the hum in Downtown Hickory on Saturday, September 21st. The ticketed event will feature a concert by local musicians including Andrew Moose, Liam Bailey, and Sara Wimmer performing classic hits from the 50s and 60s, followed by an outdoor screening of AMERICAN GRAFFITI along with food trucks and beverage sales.
